August 25th - 29th, 2025: We are the Fireflies!

Happy Friday, Firefly Families!

This week we learned all about FIREFLIES! Our Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) letter of the week happened to be F too! We painted frames for our family portraits, cut out fireflies to put in a jar & wrote the number, cut out and created "very lonely fireflies" to match our Eric Carle story, responded to the journal prompt "If you were a firefly where would you fly?" and went on a firefly number hunt around our school. We read the books Fireflies, Ten Flashing Fireflies, The Very Lonely FireflyIt's a Firefly Night and Firefly Home.

Here's the link to a calming Firefly Song we sang and danced to this week!

Reminders:

*NO SCHOOL: Monday, September 1st--Labor Day!

*Our Firefly Kissing Hand book is making it's way around the class in the Show & Tell bag. If your child brings it home, please read it with them and send it back the next day so another family can enjoy. :)

*Firefly Picture Day: Wednesday, September 10th @ 9:15 AM

*If you know your Firefly is not a rester, you are welcome to send a few books or a quiet activity for them to do alone on their mat during rest time. This can go back and forth from school or it can stay in their cubby. Thanks!

*Check out our new "Ride & Reflect" (formally known as "Car Talk") for this quarter!
