February 17th - 19th, 2026: Post Office

Happy Friday, Firefly Families!

This week we focused on the U.S. Postal Service. We learned the process of how a letter is mailed & delivered, what you need to mail a letter (address, stamp, return address) practiced learning our own addresses, and made mailboxes for our classroom and spent the week writing each other postcards and letters from our writing center. We also created a post office in our reading arch and took turns being the mail carrier and delivering mail. We also learned about Lunar/Chinese New Year and made special red lanterns to celebrate. We read the books Bringing in the New YearIt Came in the MailDelivering Your MailMail Truck's Busy Day, and The Giant Hug. Our Handwriting Without Tears letter of the week was Y.

February 9th - 12th, 2026: LOVE & Valentine's Day!

Happy Thursday, Firefly Families!

This week we continued our focus on LOVE and celebrated Valentine's Day with our friends. We decorated bags for our valentines, sorted/patterned with conversation hearts, responded to the journal prompt, "Who do you love? Why?", painted hearts on the easel and went on a beginning sounds hunt around our room (fun for all!). We also went on a number hunt around the building so that we could practice our numeral writing and played a valentine roll & cover with numbers. We had so much fun at our Valentine/Friendship Party--thank you to our parents that planned/helped out!

Our HWT letter of the week was X and we read the books Love MonsterThe Day it Rained Hearts, Peppa's Valentine's DayHappy Valentine's Day, Curious George!.
