February 9th - 12th, 2026: LOVE!

Hi Firefly Parents!

This week we focused on LOVE and Valentine's Day! We made valentine play dough, painted and decorated valentine frames for our parents, made our own heart lacing cards by cutting them out/punching holes/lacing with yarn, practiced our positional words in a mini book, responded to the journal prompt, "How do you show love to a friend?", & cut out hearts and decorated them into valentines at the writing center. Our HWT letter was W and we read the books Love Makes a Family, The I Love You Book, A Unicorn Named Sparkle and the Perfect Valentine and Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch.

Reminders:

*Firefly Valentine/Friendship Party: Thursday, February 12th from 11-12

*NO SCHOOL! Friday, February 13th & Monday, February 16th for President's Day

*We still need another volunteer to bring an activity/craft for our party next Thursday from 11-12 if anyone can come and help!

January 28th & 29th, 2026: Arctic/Antarctic Animals!

Happy Friday, Firefly Families!

Wow--what a crazy start to our week! Hope you all stayed safe and warm in the SNOW. During our short week we learned a little about arctic/antarctic habitats and what animals live in them. We cut out and painted igloos with penguins, responded to the journal prompt, "How does your daddy take care of you?" (we learned about how daddy penguins are the main care-giver of penguin chicks), played a penguin color matching game, used sponges to paint polar bear faces, and played in REAL snow with arctic animals. Our HWT letter of the week was V and we read the books Arctic Animals For KidsThe Emperor's Egg, Penguins (Nat Geo Kids) and we watched a few videos on the arctic/antarctic habitats & animals.

We learned about how daddy Emperor penguins take care of the eggs/chicks,
so we responded to the journal prompt--"How does your daddy take care of you?"

We loved this color matching penguin game we borrowed from the Eagle class

Practicing waddling around with our "eggs" on our feet
like the daddy penguins!

We learned that penguins can NOT fly!

We created polar bear faces with sponges

We got to play in the snow a tiny bit before our shoes started getting wet!
Don't forget snow boots next week when it's (a little) warmer to play outside! ❄❄❄

Lakely got out her gloves to play in the snow ;)
