March 30th - April 2nd, 2026: Birds!

Hello Firefly Families!

This week we had fun learning about birds! We cut out and painted our own birds & made their nests, went on a pinecone hunt to find pinecones to make bird feeders with peanut butter & birdseed, and played a rolling dice game with birds to get them back to their nests. Since it rained on Thursday afternoon, we will put our bird feeders near the garden next Monday and will check on them later next week to see if any birdies eat them! We also made some "bird watchers" from paper towel tubes, and went on a "backyard bird hunt" to see which ones we could find around the building. We read the books Birds for Kids, Grumpy Bird, and Mama Built a Little Nest. We are still reviewing the alphabet and this week we focused on M, N, O & P.

March 23rd - 26th, 2026: Rainy Days in Spring

Hello Firefly Families!

This week we focused on RAINY weather in the spring time--along with rainbows and worms! We created a class book about what we see in the spring time, used droppers to create a rain painting on the easel, did a cloud/rain science experiment learned about the colors in the rainbow and painted one, answered the journal prompt "What's your favorite weather? Why?", used tweezers to sort through different colored/sized worms in a sensory bin and used WORMS (noodles) to paint. We read the books I See Spring, RainLet it Rain, Worms, and Worm Weather. We also watched some fun science videos online about rainbows and worms. We are still working on reviewing the HWT alphabet we did I, J, K & L this week. Our new character trait for this quarter is Caring. Check out the "Ride and Reflect" below!

Reminders:

*NO SCHOOL: Tuesday, April 7th

*We will be doing a food groups/healthy eating unit in a couple weeks. If you have any (clean!) food/beverage containers for our Firefly Grocery Store/Market, please send them in!! Thanks in advance :)
