Happy Friday, Firefly Families!
This week we did all things GINGERBREAD! We created and decorated our own gingerbread people and made a fun gingerbread house in the reading arch by painting on fluffy "icing" and gluing on homemade candies, made gingerbread playdough, responded to the journal prompt, "Where did your gingerbread baby run?", measured holiday items with gumdrops, and went on a gingerbread number hunt around the classroom where we had to match numeral to quantity. Our favorite part of the week (by far!) was making and decorating gingerbread cookies! Everyone loved them--yum! We read the books The Gingerbread Girl, Gingerbread Baby, Gingerbread Friends, The Gingerbread Mouse and the "Five Little Gingerbread" poem. We also read our "Holiday Traditions" book together as a class and each Firefly got to talk about their family's special traditions--everyone loved sharing! Our Handwriting Without Tears letter of the week was R.
"Five Little Gingerbread"
Five little gingerbread, lying on a tray.
One jumped up and ran away!
Shouting, "Catch me! Catch me! Catch me if you can!
I'm really quick, I'm the gingerbread man!" (repeat counting down)
