May 19th - 22nd, 2025: Ocean (Week 2!) and FIELD DAY!

Hello Firefly Families!

Welcome to our LAST BLOG of the year! Gosh, how that flew by. ;) What a wonderful year it has been! We had a wonderful last full week learning a little bit more about the ocean and spending a fun afternoon together at Field Day 2025. We learned about jellyfish and did a cool experiment by making a jellyfish out of glue, sprinkling on salt and then dabbing it with watercolor--the results were so cool! We practiced sequencing 1-10 with ocean creatures, made a sea star and glued on Cheerios for the "tube feet", played Go Fish, played with sand dough, responded to the journal prompt, "What are you excited to do this summer?" and lots of other fun activities. We also finished our number review and practiced 1 through 10 in our HWT books.

May 12th - 15th, 2025: Ocean Life! (Week 1)

Happy Friday, Firefly Families!

This week we focused on the ocean and the animals that live in it. We read the books Ocean Animals for Kids, Nat Geo for Kids: Sea Turtles, Nat Geo for Kids: Sharks, and Pout Pout Fish and we watched many ocean animal videos to learn more about life in the ocean. We made our reading arch into the ocean with lots of animals, seaweed & sand, made sand dough with shells & sea glass, made a shark face & sea turtles, responded to the journal entry, "My favorite thing about the ocean is...", patterned with shells and sea glass, went on an ocean animal hunt around the LECC and worked on numbers in our HWT book.

*FIELD DAY! Thursday, May 22nd (afternoon session). We are Team RED so please have your child wear RED to help represent our team!

*NO SCHOOL: Monday, May 26th for Memorial Day
